Sukkot - the Jewish Festival of Tabernacles
Sukkot is a week-long Jewish festival that is both a harvest festival and a commemoration of the Israelites' 40-year wandering in the desert after their exodus from Egypt. It is celebrated by building temporary huts called sukkahs, eating meals in them, and dwelling in them for the duration of the holiday.
On Thursday evening, Xeverie abd I attended a Sukkot celebration on a rooftop in Balaclava with other Anglican and local ministers at the invitation of the Rabbis from Centreal Shule.

A somewhat permanent tabernacle had been erected for use during this festival. It also provided glorious views of the city.

Thursday - Pot-Luck lunch
Following the Thursday Morning Prayer in Chinese, a 'bring a plate' lunch is held in the Parish Hall on the first Thursday of the month (during term time).

Wednesday - birthday celebrations
Following our mid-week healing Eucharist service, we adjourned for some birthday celebrations for Kerrie-Ann Bemtley, Ron Stannus (99) and Mother Xeverie.
