Blossoming Worship at our 'Moon Cake Festival' on Friday evening
Pentecost 15
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" is the famous opening line in the prologue to the Gospel of St John and is part of this weekend's Gospel reading. The "Word" (translated from the Greek logos) is Jesus Christ and Christ existed before creation and was with God from the very beginning. The verse points to the Word's divine identity as being both with God and fully God. Although the triune nature of God was unknown in St John's time, it has been read back into the prologue as a foundation for the doctrine of the Trinity.

Moon Cake Festival
What a wonderful and professional display we were shown last night at the Parish's Moon Cake Festival. Many thanks to Mother Xeverie and the large team of organisers and assistants who brought it all together on the night. and a special thank you to all the performers. The involvement of all the Parish Council members was not only encouraging—it was a tangible sign of your commitment to the life and outreach of St Andrew’s Brighton, and it meant a great deal to us.
Xeverie says: "The evening was a tremendous success. More than 300 people attending —many of them visitors and pre‑believers—which affirms the true purpose of outreach: to welcome those who might never otherwise step into our church.
The atmosphere was festive, cultural, and deeply engaging, even emotionally moving for some (a few cried), it reflected the diversity and vibrant life of St Andrew’s. We were also delighted to see many from the neighbouring churches; several stayed afterwards to speak with me, expressing appreciation and genuine interest".
Chess master exhibition
On Sunday next (13 September) between 4-5pm, aspiring Chess Master, Anthony Hain, will be playing multiple chess partners in simultaneous games on our front lawn. Come along and challenge him!
This will also be an opportunity for us to soft-launch our new mission initiative -
the St Andrew's Chess Club
which will be starting in October.
Firbank VCE Music Class Concert
St Andrew's parishioners are invited to enjoy a free concert by Firbank VCE students (violin, piano and classical voice) at St Andrew's on Wednesday 9 September 2pm to 3pm.
Firbank and Brighton Grammar Con Spirito Concert
The Con Spirito Concert was an extraordinary evening that brought together young musicians from Firbank Grammar and Brighton Grammar at the Melbourne Recital Centre. Over 350 instrumentalists and choristers took to the stage, creating an unforgettable musical experience filled with talent, energy and collaboration. Some familiar faces were singing and performing.
