Christmas events at St Andrew's this past week

Melbourne Bach Choir

The Melbourne Bach Choir's enchanting Christmas concert was held last Saturday evening.

The Choir, led by conductor Rick Prakhoff, and with the accompaniment of organist Calvin Bowman, lifted the roof with a spectacular choral works and some Christmas Carols. Below we see them rehearsing.

Patronal Festival - St Andrew's Day

We celebrated the feast of St Andrew on Sunday at 10am, with a large contingent of both parishioners and guests. I wore my St Andrew cope, which I had made by Watts & Co in London in 2019. Watts recently posted a piece showing the hand-embroidery work which went into its production.

A feast ensured following the service in the form of sandwiches and lamingtons over tea and coffee. Click to enlarge.

Victoria Brass Christmas concert - 'The Snowman'

On Sunday evening Victoria Brass presented their 'Christmas spectacular' 'The Sn0wman', conducted by Dr Matt van Emmerick. This included vocals by Heather Marie Little and Matt Little, with associate artists, Dean Sky-Lucas on piano and Ben Cooke on bass. The concert was extremely well received.

St Andrew's Opportunity Shop Christmas Breakfast

Thank you to all the wonderful helpers at the Op Shop, especially Jan and Lorraine, who work so hard week after week. They took a break for some festive food on Monday at 'Mazi'.

Brighton Grammar Christmas concert

Nothing says Australian Christmas quite like 30 degree weather and an evening of carols! The spectacular Brighton Grammar Carols Service was held in the church on Monday evening. With classics and a chance to sing along, it's one of the most loved events on the school calendar.

English Conversation Group breaks for Christmas

Our English Conversation Group finished the year with a barbecue on Tuesday. It was a beautiful day and the participants enjoyed the cloister courtyard and sunshine.

Thank you to the barbequers.

Classic Residences' Christmas Service

Every month we have a service at Classic Residences, and this month we brought Christmas on a bit early. Here are some our congregation having our coffees after the service and enjoying the Christmas spirit.

Christmas, New Year and January services

As Christmas Eve falls on a weekend, and there are a plethora of services available as noted above, please note these changes the services on that weekend will; be:

No Sat@6 on 23 December.

No 8am Sunday on 24 December.

10am on @24 December will be a said service with hymns, no choristers

At the strategy morning earlier this year, it was suggested that we join our 8am, 10am and Sat@6 services together during the school holidays so that we get to know others who we may not see or know well.

So we will have only one service a week during this period -

9.30am on Sundays on 31 December and on 7, 14, 21 and 28 January.

All of these services will be on-line (technology willing) in case you are away and wish to tune in.
