Lent 2
In this weekend's Gospel reading Jesus’ has a conversation at night with Nicodemus, a Pharisee, regarding the necessity of being "born again" of water and the Spirit to enter God's kingdom. It introduces the concept of salvation through faith in the Son of Man, culminating in the foundational verse John 3:16, emphasizing God's love.
On Sunday, young Max Ward will be baptised with water and the Spirit as we welcome him into the Kingdom of God through the sacrament of Holy Baptism.
Saturday event cancelled
I had proposed a 'Listening in Lent' event in the Parish Hall tomorrow, Saturday, but I have decided to cancell this and will bring this up in my sermons this weekend.

Anstey Psalter
During this church season of Lent, St Andrew's is participating a national trial use of a new Psalter (translation of the Psalms) by the Reverend Dr Matthew Anstey.
Michael has been an Anglican since birth, growing up in Sydney. After school, he spent most of the next 20 years in Canberra-Goulburn Diocese, except for four years overseas studying for a Masters in Christian Studies at Regent College (Vancouver) and a PhD at Vrije Universiteit (Amsterdam), in Biblical Hebrew linguistics. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2009 and in 2010 moved to Adelaide to be Principal of St Barnabas Theological College (2010-2018). He is currently parish priest at St Theodore's Toorak Gardens in Adelaide.
The Anstey Psalter is to be a contemporary liturgical translation of the entire book of Psalms, for public worship and private devotion for Australian Anglicans, combining the latest scholarship with close attention to poetics and musicality.
