St Peter and St Paul
Ss Peter and Paul, two foundational figures of Christianity, are celebrated together, as their combined martyrdoms established the faith in Rome. Peter, originally a fisherman named Simon, he was one of Jesus's twelve original apostles. He is recognized by the Roman Catholic Church as the first Pope and Bishop of Rome. Tradition holds he was martyred in Rome by being crucified upside down. Within church histpry he represents the mission to the Jewish community. Paul, formerly known as Saul. He persecuted early Christians until experiencing a miraculous vision of the risen Jesus on the road to Damascus. He became the "Apostle to the Gentiles" and wrote a significant portion of the New Testament. He too was martyred by beheading in Rome.

The Gesualdo Six
&
Australian Boys Choir

A spectacular concert on Tuesday evening for the only Melbourne performance of
The Gesualdo Six from the UK, accompanied by the Australian Boys Choir.
It was a beautiful evening and the queue for entry ran down to the St Andrews Street roundabout.

Parking on site

Since long before the introduction of the 'tow away' signs in the car park, Brian Comport has vigilantly recorded vehicles not displaying our parking permits and notified them that the carpark was tow away area. He reports that all of the recalcitrant parkers have now left and the number of spaces available to church and café users has grown. Of course, there are several vehicles from the Café staff and customers who park here, so it unlikely to ever be empty in the daytime unless the café is closed - which it will be in July. We have been permitting the overflow cars from large congregations to park on what little remains of our front grass until 'The Greening Project' gets to that point where all the Church and New Street frontages are re-landscaped following the installation of water tanks.
Brian visits several times a day and on several days each week to record carpark usage. Many thanks for his diligence in seeing off regular offenders.
The Greening Project
The Churchwardens have approved preliminary works involving the relocation of the garbage area to the St Andrew's Street frontage between the Op Shop and the Café. A garbage hatch will be installed in the external wall of the Café's kitchen to enable garbage (in bags) to be dropped directly into this area rather than visibly taken around the front of the School House building. This work, and the replacement of the Café's switchboard, will be carried out whilst the Café is closed in July for winter holidays.
Once the garbage bins have been relocated, the area at the rear of the Op Shop will be levelled to prevent water flooding the Café, and the two handicapped spaces will be relocated to be adjacent to the toilets, providing level access to the Café, and to the Church through the eastern narthex door from the Vicars' Cloister. There will be no parking for other vehicles, except temporarily in the delivery bay used for Café and Op Shop. The Café has been provided with 4 undercover spaces under the Duigan Centre.
