Vicar's News - 8 March 2020

What a delight to have some dahlias from the Alice and Dwight King's garden in the Parish Office. Although it is Lent, we have some beautiful flowers from the services this week and there are some photos below.

Congratulations to Anjit and Sharon Thomas who were married on Thursday.

Our in-house bible study following the mid-week service was small but great fun. You are welcome to join us for the service at 10:30am and bible study in Meeting Room l in the Parish Centre.

During the week I attended to a house blessing, a wedding and a funeral. On Wednesday evening we held a service of healing of those affected by or concerned about child abuse. Christine Croft and I were assisted by senior staff members from Firbank and Brighton Grammar.

I was back on the audio-visuals for mainly music last Monday. It was great to see the team bopping around with the very young kids.

Final security locks and the alarm will be operative later in the week for the Parish Office area and the church will be open during the day from Tuesday. We have new welcome signs to be placed in the entranceways. Angela Alomes will be advising those need after-hour entry about the alarm code.

On Tuesday, parishioners from St Stephen's Gardenvale will be here for a funeral at St Andrew's and then our clergy will be attending a Deanery meeting at Gardenvale on Wednesday - a bit of musical chairs for Michelle and myself.

Roadworks and streetscape improvements along Church Street between St Andrew's and New Streets are commencing on 16 March - there will be some closures and detours in place. Please allow extra time if you would usually use that route.

Fr Ian

Farewell to Bruce Clifton
