Assistant Director of Music
I have pleasure in advising that Ms Pamela Wainwright has been appointed as assistant to our Director of Music, Dr Calvin Bowman.
In studying for her Bachelor of Music, Pamela majored in Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting at Melbourne University, the Victorian College of the Arts and at the Australian Catholic University. She has held a number of choral scholarships including at Christ Church South Yarra, St Michael’s Collins St, St Mark’s Fitzroy and at Ormond College. Pamela has studied voice with Dame Joan Hammond, Kate Paterson (Guildhall, London), Anna Connolly and Vivien Hamilton (Melbourne Conservatorium of Music).
As a Christian in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, she considers that music in the Anglican Church is a ‘treasure of inestimable value’ which should be treasured, preserved and performed.
Pamela is currently the Director of Music at St Peter’s Brighton Beach where she provides the choir for major liturgical festivals. It is my hope that we can work together with St Peter’s to enhance our mutual choral contributions to worship in Brighton.
Pamela lives locally and provides private lessons in piano, organ, violin voice and music theory.
We will formally commission her as Assistant Director of Music at our 10am service next Sunday 4 February 2024.
