Peter Paul Rubens, The Virgin and Child Surrounded by the Holy Innocents, 1616

Christmas 1

I love the cheeky look on baby Jesus' face, but it is somewhat incongruous with the situation of the other children being slaughtered to apprease Herod's fear of the rise of a King of the Jews. Indeed, scholar's doubt that this slaughter actually occurred, but rather the story was included to highlight the fagile hold Herod felt he had on his kingdom.

Christmas services

Our Carol & Lessons service, Midnight Mass and Christmas Day services can seen on our live YouTube link here.

We had a record number of perople joining us over Christmas Eve and Christmas day - some 820 people came to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Over 60 children joined in our service at 5pm on Christmas Eve, led by Mother Xeverie with her team comprising Diarne, Helen and Betty.

Our choir excelled themselves in the Service of Carols and Lessons which can be seen here. This is highly recommended if you were not able to attend.

A new selection of carols welcomed in the Midnight Mass service, which can be seen here.

On Christmas Day we welcomed the birth of Christ with two services, with breakfast for our choir in the middle.

Our 10am Christmas Day service can be seen here.
