Much as I fear my hair looks more and more like St Augustine's every day, it is today that the church remembers him, sent to Britain to gather together the various form of Christian worship into what was the Church in England, later the Church of England. He began his mission in 597AD from St Martin's Church in Canterbury, England. Built in Roman times, it is the oldest church in the English-speaking world.
Archbishop of Melbourne
Whilst the Church of England searches for a successor as the next Archbishop of Canterbury, In Melbourne we have elected a new Archbishop - the Right Reverend Ric Thorpe. Yes, we have reverted to importing bishops again.

Bishop Ric is the Bishop for Church-planting in the Diocese of London but has not been a Diocesan bishop, but neither had the other three vicar candidates we were given to vote for last weekend. We look forward to welcoming +Ric to St Andrew's at a future time. The date of his commencement has not yet been determined.
You can here an introduction from +Ric, in his own words, by clicking here.

Dragon Boat Festival
In the meantime, let us celebrate the Spirit of the Dragon Boat Festival!
The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a cherished tradition celebrated by Chinese communities worldwide. This festival dates back over 2,000 years and honours the great poet Qu Yuan, who sacrificed himself for his people.
Families gather to enjoy zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), dragon boat races, and performances rich in poetry and folklore.
It is a time of unity, remembrance, and cultural pride, symbolising resilience and devotion.
