THE FEAST OF PENTECOST

The feast of Pentecost, or Whitsunday, commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and other disciples of Jesus while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks, as described in the Acts of the Apostles

The festival of Pentecost is still important today because it represents the beginning of the Christian Church. It reminds them how Jesus' promise that God would send the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is active as God's presence and power in the world. was fulfilled

A new initiative from the Anglican Church of Australia launches today, though we are already ahead of the pack. We are already implementing new missional programs which will all be in place in 2024, and continuing into 2025. These include:

  • Coffee + Chat (monthly

  • a fresh promotion of our monthly Healing Service to non-parishioners

  • a bootcamp training circuit on a Saturday morning (2nd and 4th Saturdays) More details to come.

Heavenly lightshow

During the week, the electromagnetic sun shower brightened up our southern skies.

WARNING!

ShinCheonJi (SCJ) is a Pseudo-Christian cult founded in South Korea by a man called Lee ManHee in 1984. This group is aggressively targeting Christians, particularly young adults at universities or in other public spaces like shopping centres, but also in our churches. infiltrating themselves with a view to bringing people into SCJ. While their theology is clearly heretical, this will not be apparent in early conversations or bible studies. Alternatively they may call on behalf of HWPL – “Heavenly World Peace Restoration of Light” – calling themselves an international NGO for global peace and the cessation of war. They change their name as they become exposed, and now are using the name 'Zest'.

They are a dangerous group that use common controlling strategies found in other cults. They should be avoided.
