Funerals, Memorial Services &
Interment of Ashes
The funeral or memorial service of a loved one is a major event in the life of any family. If you would like to choose St Andrew's Brighton for this significant occasion, we will help you through this emotional time. We hold that everyone is entitled to a Christian burial and we make no judgement about the deceased's church involvement. Anyone is welcome to have a funeral at St Andrew's.
You do not need to contact us directly. The usual process is that your chosen Funeral Director, on the direction of the authorised next-of-kin, will make contact with the Parish Office to arrange a suitable time for the service.
Please be aware that a date and time for the service cannot be confirmed until the Vicar, or other Parish Clergy, have been consulted.
Every human life is unique, and at St Andrew's Brighton every funeral or memorial service is a distinctive celebration of the life of the departed. To make the service as personal as possible, Clergy meet with the family and discuss appropriate selections of music, readings and other presentations once the service has been confirmed. We can include Masonic and RSL rites as part of a funeral service.
St Andrew's Brighton is an Anglican Church, so please understand that we act within the Christian faith and the guidelines of the Anglican Church of Australia.
St Andrew's Brighton has several worship spaces available. For large services, the Main Church seats 500 people. For smaller services, the Pioneer Chapel seats 100 people, or the Lady Chapel seats 50 people. We can also cater for larger services, with over 800 mourners, buy providing additional seating.
Once St Andrew's Brighton has been confirmed for the service, all three worship spaces are reserved for exclusive use to give you flexibility as the numbers attending become apparent closer to the service.
St Andrew's Brighton may only be used for services authorised by the Anglican Church of Australia. Our Clergy conduct services held at St Andrew's Brighton. However, other ordained Christian clergy may participate with our Clergy in a service once approval has been given by the Vicar.
