Funerals
Many people choose St Andrew's for their significant life event, and we try to be as accommodating as possible within the requirements of the Christian faith and the protocols of the Anglican Church.
Normally a funeral director, on the direction of the authorised next of kin of the deceased, will make contact with the parish to arrange a suitable time for the funeral. No confirmed date and time of a funeral should be made until the Vicar or parish clergy person concerned has confirmed the date and time.
Funerals may be held in the Pioneer Chapel (seating approximately 90 people), the main church (seating 400 people), or the Lady Chapel (seating less than 30 people) for smaller funerals. St Andrew's can even cater for a funeral service with 1,000+ people, which requires the hire of extra seating to accommodate such numbers.
St Andrew's Church Brighton may only be used for services authorised by the Anglican Church of Australia and cannot be "hired out" to other denominations or civil celebrants.
The clergy of the parish conduct funeral services. However other ordained Christian clergy may participate with St Andrew's clergy in such a service after approval has been sought from the Vicar of St Andrew's (and the Bishop if required).
